Purely Bondi

Purely Bondi

Purely clean ingredients. Purely Australian glow.

A streak-free, fast-drying tanning lotion that dries down in minutes and develops into a true olive-toned bronze. No guesswork, no waiting around in a towel, and no orange.

  • Coconut water hydration — keeps skin supple while the colour develops.
  • Zero orange tones — an olive base builds real bronze, not carrot.
  • Fades evenly — no blotchy shins on day four, no scrubbing it off.

What people say

Written by people who kept going orange.

Fair skin, pink undertones, freckles, and a cupboard full of tanners that never quite worked.

The frustration

When "sun-kissed" wakes up orange.

You exfoliated. You used the mitt. You went slowly around your ankles. And you still woke up a colour that belongs on a snack, not a person.

  • You wake up orange, and you have somewhere to be that day.
  • It looks good for two days, then fades in patches down your shins.
  • You stood around in a towel for an hour waiting for it to dry.
  • It ended up on white sheets and towels that never quite recover.
  • You've been doing this for years and it still goes wrong.

The overlooked reason

Orange isn't a shade problem. It's a tone problem.

Sunless tanning develops warm — somewhere between amber and red. On fair or pink-undertoned skin there's nothing to balance it, so it reads orange. Which is why going a shade lighter never fixed it: a lighter shade just gives you less orange.

Purely Bondi is built on an olive base instead. Olive sits opposite red on the colour wheel, so as the tan develops there's something quietly working against the warmth the entire time. What's left is a cooler, deeper bronze — the tone you actually see on an Australian beach, not the one you see in a bad photo.

Australian coastline at golden hour

Our roots

From Australia, With Love

Australians learned about the sun the hard way. Under the thinnest ozone on earth, a country built entirely around the beach spent decades discovering what that costs — and became the first place in the world where getting colour without the sun stopped being vanity and started being sense. Sunless tanning didn't arrive in Australia as a trend. It arrived as the only way to keep the look without the damage, and generations of Australians refined it into something the rest of the world eventually copied.

Purely Bondi comes out of that. We took the tone Australians actually chase — golden hour on the sand, olive and deep rather than brassy and orange — and built it on ingredients that treat your skin like skin. Naturally derived DHA instead of anything harsh. Kakadu plum and aloe from the same continent that taught us to respect the sun in the first place. It's the glow of an Australian summer, made honestly, and made to be worn by people who have no intention of lying in the sun to get it.

How application works, sweeping the mitt up the leg

How to apply

Three steps. However dark you want to go.

  1. Prep

Exfoliate with the included mitt the day before, not the same day, and shave the day before too — shaving afterwards takes the colour straight back off. Come to it on clean, dry skin with no oil or moisturiser, apart from a thin layer on knees, elbows, ankles and knuckles.

  2. Apply

Work the lotion onto the applicator mitt and move in long, sweeping motions up each limb, overlapping slightly as you go. Do one section at a time — one leg, then the other, then arms, then torso — so you never lose track of where you've been. Finish with a lighter pass over hands and feet, then let it dry down.

  3. Glow

Leave it on, then rinse in cool water with no soap. How long you wait is how dark you get.

1 hourA soft gradual glow. Best for your first go, and for fair skin.
    2–3 hoursA medium, holiday-level bronze.
4–6 hours or overnightDeep dark. Rinse in the morning.

Colour keeps developing for around 24 hours after you rinse, so give it a full day before you judge it. Moisturise daily and it fades evenly instead of patching.

Ingredient botanicals, Kakadu plum and aloe vera

What's inside

Three ingredients doing the real work.

Clean doesn't mean weak. It means nothing in the tube is there for show.

The colour

100% Natural DHA

Derived from plant sugars rather than synthesised. It's the ingredient that creates the tan, reacting with the very surface of your skin — which is why the colour is genuinely yours and not a coating sitting on top of you.

Australian native

Kakadu Plum

A small fruit from Australia's Top End, and one of the most concentrated natural sources of vitamin C on the planet. It's in here for the same reason Australians have used it for millennia — it looks after skin that spends its life in a harsh climate.

The comfort

Aloe Vera

Sunless tanning is drying, and dry skin is exactly what makes a tan flake and fade in patches. Aloe keeps the surface calm and hydrated so the colour goes down evenly and leaves the same way.

Who it's for

Made for the tans that never came out right.

Anyone who's gone orange

If warmth is what's been letting you down, an olive base is the actual fix.

Very fair skin

Start on Fair to Medium and rinse at an hour. Build from there once you know how it takes.

Anyone short on time

Fast dry-down and a one-hour option, so a tan doesn't cost you an evening.

Before you buy

Questions, answered plainly.

What comes in the Complete Kit?
One 222 ml / 7.5 fl oz tube, one velvet applicator mitt, and one exfoliating mitt. Shipping is included.
I've gone orange with everything. Why would this be different?
Because orange is a tone problem and most brands only let you change shade — and a lighter shade just gives you less orange. Purely Bondi is built on an olive base, which sits opposite red on the colour wheel and works against the warmth the whole time the tan develops.
How long do I leave it on?
One hour for a soft gradual glow, two to three for a medium bronze, four to six or overnight for deep dark. Then rinse in cool water with no soap. The colour carries on developing for about 24 hours after you rinse, so give it a full day before deciding.
Which shade should I start with?
There are two: Fair to Medium for a subtle, buildable glow, and Medium to Dark for a deeper bronze. If you're fair, or you've been burned by tanners before, take Fair to Medium and rinse at the one-hour mark — you can always leave it longer next time. Going too dark is the mistake that's hard to undo.
How fast does it actually dry?
Minutes, not an hour in a towel. Give it a few minutes to dry down fully before you dress, and wear something loose and dark for the development window.
Will it come off on my sheets?
Rinse before bed and there's nothing left on the surface to transfer. If you're going the overnight route for a deep tan, wear loose dark clothing and use older bedding — that's true of any tanner developing overnight, and we'd rather say so than promise otherwise.
How long does the tan last?
Around five to seven days depending on how often you shower, swim and exfoliate. Moisturising daily is the single biggest thing you can do to keep the fade even.
I have sensitive skin. Should I patch test?
Yes, and please wait a full 72 hours rather than 24. Reactions to sunless tanners are often delayed by two or three days, which is exactly why people get caught out. Apply a small amount to your inner arm and give it the full three days.
Can I use it on my face?
This is a body formula. Facial skin is thinner and more likely to hold colour around the hairline and in dark spots. If you want to, patch test along your jaw first and consider mixing it into your usual moisturiser.
What's in the three-bottle bundle?
Three complete kits: three 222 ml tubes, three applicator mitts and three exfoliating mitts. That's $26.66 per kit instead of $39.99, a saving of $39.98 against buying three separately. It's the one most people land on if they tan year round or are splitting it with someone.
What's in the two-bottle bundle?
Two complete kits: two 222 ml tubes, two applicator mitts and two exfoliating mitts. That's $29.99 per kit instead of $39.99, a saving of $19.99 against buying two separately.
Is shipping included?
Yes, shipping is included in the price shown on both options.
